OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, over the past 11 months, the number of new POS loans has been falling - that is, loans that can be obtained immediately at a point of sale. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to data from the United Credit Bureau (OKB).
In September, banks issued 333 thousand such loans worth 27 billion rubles. In annual terms, the number of disbursements fell by 43 percent, and the volume by 32. A year ago, we were talking about 582 thousand commodity loans worth 40 billion rubles. In addition, the term of POS loans has increased from 15 to 20 months.
Compared to the last month of summer, the number of commodity loans fell by 15 percent, and the volume by 12 percent. As for the number of borrowers with open POS loans, it decreased to 4.6 million. Meanwhile, in March there were 5.5 million of them.
According to Yuri Belikov, managing director of the Expert RA rating agency, the observed dynamics is explained by high rates and the general creditworthiness of potential debtors.
Earlier, the National Bureau of Credit Histories reported that in September 2024, the average size of a consumer loan fell by 2.1 percent compared to August and amounted to 160.3 thousand rubles.
