Russian Ministry of Finance Will Purchase a Minimum of Currency in Two Years

OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Finance of Russia in March plans to purchase the minimum amount of currency since the beginning of the budget rule - 133.3 billion rubles. This is stated in the message of the ministry.
“The total amount of funds allocated for the purchase of foreign currency is 133.3 billion rubles. The operations will be carried out from March 6 to April 6, 2020”, the release said. In February, the Ministry of Finance purchased currency for 214.2 billion rubles, in January - for 309.9 billion. In 2019, the volume of purchased currency amounted to a total of 2.9 trillion rubles.
In 2019, the minimum for currency purchases fell in September (187.1 billion rubles). In 2018, the Ministry of Finance purchased the smallest amount of currency in March (192.5 billion rubles). And the largest amount of additional income for two years was directed to the purchase of foreign currency in November 2018 - 525.8 billion rubles.
Under the budget rule in force in Russia since 2018, the Ministry of Finance buys currency in the amount of additional oil and gas revenues. These revenues are determined by the excess of the market price of Urals crude over the cut-off price in the budget. In 2020, it's $ 42.4 per barrel.
