OREANDA-NEWS Major Russian banks started to study the possibility of purchasing domestic Elbrus processor-based ATMs, which will start to appear from 2023, RBC wrote, referring to the representatives of credit institutions.

According to Artem Zhilonov, the CEO and co-owner of BFS, their organization will produce ATMs with Elbrus processor. Their production should begin in 2023. At the beginning of the year there is already a contract for the delivery of 1.5 thousand of such devices.

The representatives of the banks said that they are interested in the replacement of the ATMs with the domestic devices. However, they will be ready to consider the proposals of potential suppliers only if they meet the technical requirements, security requirements, as well as ergonomics and design.

The experts agreed that the new ATMs can be competitive only if they are more technologically advanced and better than their foreign counterparts, while their price will be lower. However, it is impossible to assess the performance of the domestic processor so far, as no one is producing it due to the transfer of production to Russia. Besides, it may take a long time, which will slow down the process of equipment release.
