OREANDA-NEWS  The largest construction companies in Russia are thinking about transferring their facilities to aluminum cables. According to the press service of the Aluminum Association of Russia, this will save billions of rubles nationwide.

"Aluminum makes it possible to reduce the cost of current projects by 50%, which is especially important today. Only the widest use of aluminum cables in construction will make it possible to complete the already started facilities in a timely manner and without a jump in prices," the association believes.

They said that the price of aluminum cable is 40% lower than copper. At the same time, aluminum cable is safe, and its weight is 20-50% lower than copper, which also attracts builders. Russian manufacturers have already begun to actively develop innovative products made of this material.

So, Moskabelmet offers AsVVG cable for housing construction. And, for example, RUSAL has mastered the production of alloys of the eighth series since 2014. They are used for electrification of buildings.

Now the share of aluminum cable products in Russia is low. If we talk about construction, about 80% is accounted for by copper. In the energy sector, copper wiring takes up about 20%.
