OREANDA-NEWS Rostec State Corporation regained 32.3% of AvtoVAZ shares with the help of an option for the right to repurchase, the remaining share in the company belongs to the NAMI Institute, said Maxim Sokolov, President of AvtoVAZ.

The company does not disclose its share capital, however, in mid-May 2022, French Renault transferred its share in AvtoVAZ (67.7%) to the state property of the Russian Federation represented by FSUE NAMI. Rostec owned the remaining 32.3% of the shares, which also transferred them to FSUE NAMI in the spring of 2023.

"When Rostec withdrew from the shareholders of AvtoVAZ, the deal provided for an option for the right to repurchase. Two years later, the corporation used this right and returned 32.3% of the shares. What for? Two years ago, the situation was the same, today it is different. Everything is changing rapidly. If Rostec has returned to the shareholders of the national automaker, then there are reasons for this, both political and economic," Sokolov said in an interview with RBC.

A representative of Rostec confirmed the fact of the transaction to the publication, but declined to comment. The press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade did not comment on the deal either.
AvtoVAZ owns production sites in Tolyatti and Izhevsk. There are currently four model families in the Lada line: Vesta, Largus, Granta and Niva.
