OREANDA-NEWS The incomes of the richest 10 percent of Russians in 2022 were nine times higher than the incomes of the poorest 10 percent, while the least well-off families account for up to 40 percent of all available funds. This is with reference to the Rosstat study completed in December 2023, writes RBC.
According to the department's methodology, we are talking about the average monthly income of one household member. The richest ten percent (26.7 percent of all incomes in the country) have an income of 101.2 thousand rubles, and the poorest (2.9 percent) — 11.1 thousand.
For the top ten percent, work, that is, wages or self—employment, brings 91 percent of income, and for the bottom - 56.9 percent. In business income, the corresponding difference is 23 thousand rubles against 2.2 thousand.
At the same time, on average, the richest Russians receive more social benefits than the poorest — 9.4 percent of all deductions against 6.3 percent. However, the Ministry of Labor explained that the result is influenced by pension payments, which are assigned based on the results of work and do not depend on the recipient's need for assistance. If we talk separately about pensions, the richest group accounts for 10 percent of the total amount of payments, and the poorest — 3.7 percent. The opposite pattern is observed for benefits and compensations — 7.6 percent versus 14.7 percent, that is, almost a twofold difference..
Vasily Anikin, a leading researcher at the Institute of Sociology of the Federal Research Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, separately noted that the richest families, as a rule, have a higher level of functional literacy, which means they can more effectively seek transfers.
A similar Rosstat study from 2021 showed that at that time the gap between the incomes of the richest and poorest Russians was 10.3 times higher. At the same time, FinExpertiza calculated that in the same year, the average monthly income of 20 percent of low—income citizens averaged 10.8 thousand rubles per month, and 20 percent of the most affluent - 93.5 thousand rubles, that is, the difference was 8.6 times.
