OREANDA-NEWS The Russian banking sector in the first half of this year showed a profit of over a trillion rubles, which is almost one and a half times higher than in the same period last year.

According to the Bank of Russia, in January – June, 365 credit institutions earned 1,118 billion rubles. Losses in the amount of 113 billion rubles overtook 99 financial institutions.

Profit (net) of the banking sector for the first half of 2019 amounted to 1005 billion rubles against 634 billion rubles in January – June 2018, the Central Bank said in a statement.

In general, the share of unprofitable credit institutions fell by 7% compared with the same period last year, writes RNS.
