Netherlands has Frozen Russian and Belarusian Assets Totaling €633 Million
OREANDA-NEWS By the end of April, the Netherlands had frozen Russian and Belarusian assets totaling €633 million, the Volkskrant newspaper writes, referring to a statement by Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra. To date, 20 ships and 6 aircraft remain in the country, which cannot be returned to their owners from the Western sanctions list.
«And the government has no indication that large-scale assets are being withdrawn to any other countries», the article says. The media reminds that former Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok has been appointed coordinator for monitoring the implementation of sanctions against Russia.
Since April 27, the Dutch authorities have suspended the issuance of short-term visas to Russian citizens. This was reported by the press service of the Embassy of the country. This decision was made due to the expulsion of several Dutch diplomats from Russia.
Earlier, the Minister for Climate and Energy Policy of the Netherlands, Rob Jetten, said that the country intends to gain independence from Russian energy resources by the end of the year by completely abandoning Russian gas, coal and oil. According to him, the authorities know how to do it.
