OREANDA-NEWS The Russians most often steal money from bank cards in Indonesia, India and Latin America. On Thursday, August 8, the agency RIA Novosti reported.

The main dangers that travelers may face are the physical theft of the card, compromise of the PIN code, as well as skimming - copying the magnetic strip of the card.

The bank also advised Russians abroad to use contactless payments, keep some cash with them, and change their card PINs after the trip.

Experts estimate that the number of cases of fraudulent use of cards after skimming in 2019 decreased by 73%. In many ways, this was facilitated by toughening the requirements of payment systems regarding the use of chip cards and improving the system for preventing fraudulent transactions. The number of incidents related to the loss and theft of cards, compared to last year, remained unchanged.
