More than 24 Billion Rubles Tried to Steal from the Largest Banks of Russia
OREANDA-NEWS Fraudsters tried to steal more than 24 billion rubles from customers of the largest banks in the first half of 2019, Izvestia wrote.
Thus, Sberbank prevented thefts from accounts in the amount of 18 billion rubles, VTB - 5.4 billion, Alfa-Bank - not less than 700 million, Pochta Bank - 135 million and ICD - 10 million.
The Central Bank did not comment on this data. At the same time, according to the regulator, in 2018 about 1.4 billion rubles were deducted from citizens' cards, which is 44% more than a year earlier.
The revival of fraudsters and the tightening of the requirements of the Central Bank forces banks to strengthen antifraud protection. According to credit institutions, fraudsters manage to steal money only in 3-4% of cases.
