Money transfers from Russia to Georgia fell 3.5 times in the first half of the year

OREANDA-NEWS The amount of money transfers to Georgia from the Russian Federation in the first half of the year amounted to $321.8 million. This is 3.5 times less than a year earlier (more than $1.1 billion), including $48.84 million in June (a decrease of 2.6 times yoy). This is evidenced by the statistical data published by the National Bank of the country.
Italy remains in second place in terms of the amount of money transfers to Georgia – $275.8 million (an increase of 9.6%) was received in January-June, including $46 million (an increase of 6%) last month, the United States – $266.5 million (an increase of 32.8%) and $48 million (an increase of 22%), respectively.
In total, money transfers to Georgia from other countries in January-June 2024 amounted to $1 billion 656.3 million, a decrease of 30.3% compared to the same period last year. In June, the volume of money transfers decreased by 20.9% compared to the same month of 2023, to $281.1 million.
In 2023, the volume of money transfers from abroad to Georgia amounted to $4.1 billion, a decrease of 6.8% compared to the previous year. Including revenues from the Russian Federation fell by 27.5% to $1.5 billion. In 2022, money transfers to Georgia amounted to about $4.4 billion (an increase of 1.9 times), including about $2.07 billion (an increase of 5.8 times) from Russia.
