Vostochny Bank has filed a 2.5 billion rubles civil lawsuit against defendants in the Baring Vostok case. as part of a fraud investigation into the investment fund founder Michael Calvey. This was reported to the Russian media by lawyer Dmitry Kletochkin. “Indeed there is. A lawsuit has been filed against all the accused. It will be considered in conjunction with a criminal case”, Kletochkin told the media. He added that such claims are almost always filed with the initiation of a criminal case.

According to media reports, a representative of the Investigative Committee reported the lawsuit at a meeting in the Moscow City Court, which on December 4 examined a complaint about the arrest of Calvi’s property. The bank submitted it on February 19, 2019. Earlier, the statement of claim wasn't officially reported.

Kletochkin explained to the agency that the amount of claims corresponds to the amount of damage initially established by the investigation and subsequently charged to the defendants - 2.5 billion rubles.
