OREANDA-NEWS VTB's subsidiary in Kazakhstan has started issuing plastic cards of the Russian payment system Mir. In December 2022, the credit institution introduced the Mir digital cards.
The credit institution serves both its own Mir cards and foreign ones. Thus, customers will be able to withdraw money without restrictions on the number of operations.
The cost of issuing a physical card will be 2 thousand tenge (344.4 rubles), the digital one will be free. You can top up the card through self-service devices and bank cash desks, QIWI and Yurta terminals, as well as from a current account in VTB KZ Online, by transfer from another Mir card or a third-party bank account using the details.
In September 2022, the United States announced the possible imposition of sanctions for supporting the Mir system abroad. Later, the National Bank of Kazakhstan stated that the country's financial institutions have the right to independently establish business relations with payment system operators. In December, Kazakhstani credit organizations received permission from the American Office for Foreign Assets Control to service transactions on Mir payment cards used by individuals.
