OREANDA-NEWS  According to the results of the first half of 2023, the courts of St. Petersburg declared 200 legal entities and peasant farms bankrupt, as well as 5.3 thousand individuals and individual entrepreneurs (sole proprietors), it follows from the data of the Federal Resource.

Lawyers who have analyzed the statistics of the Federal Resource note that the number of bankruptcies among organizations in the Northern Capital has decreased by more than 50% and has become the minimum over the past five years. In Russia as a whole, during this period, the number of corporate bankruptcies fell by almost 40% to a record low of 3,115.

According to this indicator, St. Petersburg ranks third in the country, Moscow is on the first (618 units), and the Moscow region is on the second (218). In the Leningrad Region, only 14 enterprises went bankrupt in the first half of the year.

For 6 months of the current year, the number of creditors' intentions to apply to the court with applications for bankruptcy of companies amounted to 15,892 pcs. This is 2.12 times more than in the same period of 2022. "We are talking about those cases when the actual managers are aware of the signs of insolvency of a legal entity, take actions in advance to file for bankruptcy, assess the prospects and risks of this procedure," explains Elena Kozina, managing partner of the ELKO Profi law Firm.

In January—June 2023, 5,300 reports were recorded in St. Petersburg on the introduction by courts of procedures for the sale of property in relation to individuals and individual entrepreneurs. The northern capital dropped in the all-Russian ranking from 6th to 7th place, skipping ahead of the Samara Region (5,363 units), the Republic of Bashkortostan (5,790 units), Sverdlovsk Region (6,139 units), Krasnodar Territory (7746 units), Moscow (7759 units) and Moscow Region (7972 units).

"In terms of quantitative growth, St. Petersburg is only on the 35th place in the Russian Federation. Compared to last year, the increase amounted to 478 bankruptcies. For comparison: in Moscow, the number of procedures has increased by 2095 pcs.," Elena Kozina calculated.

In the first half of 2023, 159 individuals and sole proprietors used the out-of-court bankruptcy procedure in St. Petersburg. This is 45% more than a year earlier.
