In Russia, they decided to update the design of money

OREANDA-NEWS The Bank of Russia will update the design of banknotes in denominations of 10, 50 and 500 rubles. The decision to update the design of the money was announced by the deputy chairman of the Central Bank, Sergei Belov, quoted by Interfax.
According to the representative of the regulator, work on the design of the 500-ruble banknote is already underway. Other denominations will be worked on next year.
"This happened due to the fact that we changed our approach to the development of banknotes, making the symbol selection procedure more open. We plan to release them before 2028," Belov explained.
The Central Bank plans to present the updated 1,000-ruble banknote by the end of 2025. Its design is dedicated to the Volga Federal District. Of the design options, Russians (700,000 people voted) chose the image of the Meteor high-speed hydrofoil passenger ship. The "harmonious composition of symbols" created by the artists of the Bank of Russia and Goznak, which was preferred by citizens, will be presented at the end of 2025.
