OREANDA-NEWS In Russia, it was proposed to limit margins on school supplies. This initiative was made by the head of the State Duma Committee for Family Protection Nina Ostanina, RIA Novosti reports.
She appealed to the head of government Mikhail Mishustin with a request to consider the possibility of "setting a maximum price limit for school supplies, especially in the period from August 1 to November 1." The regional authorities are invited to take this issue under control by constantly monitoring prices for such goods.
In addition, Ostanina stated the need to improve measures to support families with many children, those in which a disabled child is being raised or one parent is raising children, as well as the families of the participants of the SVO. For such categories of citizens, the parliamentarian proposed subsidizing the cost of school supplies.
In her address to Mishustin, she also called for working out the issue of increasing import duties on such products from unfriendly countries. According to Ostanina, the domestic production of goods for schoolchildren has been established, and there is no shortage of them on the Russian market.
ATOL estimated that the basic set of school supplies increased in price by 8 percent over the year, and in 2024 it will cost an average of 6.4 thousand rubles. The median price of a school diary increased by 13 percent (to 313 rubles), a set of notebooks rose in price by 10 percent (to 407 rubles), and a set of covers for them and textbooks — by 6 percent (to 269 rubles).
