OREANDA-NEWS Russians can get subsidies for a down payment on a mortgage. President Putin instructed the government to consider making these payments.

The subsidy will be a one-time, RIA Novosti said. It will be provided at the expense of the budget and either relate to the down payment or compensate for the interest rate on the mortgage. The President gave the government a period for consideration of his proposal - until September 1, 2019.

Earlier, Putin instructed the Russian government to provide low-income families with housing. At the same time the apartment will not be transferred to the property.

As part of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment", it is planned to increase the volume of housing construction to 120 million square meters per year by 2024. Living conditions will be improved for five million families. In addition, the average mortgage rate, as planned, will drop below 8 percent.
