Germany's Autumn Elections May be the Most Expensive in the Country's History
OREANDA-NEWS. The German Interior Ministry expects a surge in the number of postal voters in the Bundestag elections due the coronavirus epidemic. The agency estimated the cost of the vote at 107 million euros. Thus, the elections scheduled for September 26 will be the most expensive in history, writes «Saarbrücker Zeitung». The organization of the vote in 2017 demanded 92 million euros.
The daily increase in infections in Germany, according to the Robert Koch Institute, was 4,369 cases. In total, since the beginning of the epidemic in Germany, 2,390,928 cases of infection have been detected. Over the past 24 hours, 62 people have died, the total number of deaths was 67,903.
The chairman of the World Medical Association, Frank Ulrich Montgomery, warned against relaxing restrictive measures in Germany. «Anyone who, during the growth of the coronavirus reproduction index, talks about easing, is acting absolutely irresponsibly», Montgomery told the «Funke» media group.
Earlier German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called for the introduction of new sanctions against Russia after two decisions of Russian courts on the opposition politician Alexey Navalny.
