"Gazprom Neft" Announced a Competition for IT-Technologies in Oil Production
OREANDA-NEWS Scientific-technical center of "Gazprom oil" and "Inpractice" announced the competition for the best method of using artificial intelligence in oil production. This information reported the press service of the scientific and technical center.
"Scientific-technical center of "Gazprom oil" and "Inpractice" announces about the competition of the “Gazpromneft SmartOil Contest”. The goal is to find ways to use machine learning technologies to improve the efficiency of oil production," the report said.
Specialists in machine learning (individually or as part of teams), as well as students receiving education in the field of information technology and the oil industry are invited to participate.
The competition will last three months and will consist of summer and autumn sessions, each of which includes correspondence and face-to-face stages. As part of the correspondence stages, participants will be asked to solve two tasks for the most accurate forecast of production volumes from wells, using real production data from six fields of Gazprom Neft. For those who are not familiar with the specifics of the oil and gas industry, webinars are provided, which will be held by the staff of the scientific and technical center.
Ten participants who showed the best results within each correspondence stage will be invited to the internal finals to present their projects to the jury.
"Approaches related to big data processing, machine learning, creation of neural networks and artificial intelligence are in demand and actively used in the oil industry. Therefore, we have made our competition open and possible for every. We will be glad to see all professionals with experience in working with data. We are waiting for new solutions and approaches, and the winner will be able to apply their knowledge in projects in demand by the oil and gas industry", ‒ said the Director of the Directorate for digital transformation of Gazprom Neft, Chairman of the jury Andrey Belevtsev.
Seven winners will receive cash prizes in each session. The prize Fund of the competition is more than 1.5 million rubles.
The extramural stage of the summer session will be held from August 27 to October 3, and will end in Moscow on October 13. It will be possible to take part in the correspondence stage of the autumn session from October 17 to November 21. Summing up will be held on December 1 in St. Petersburg
