OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom and the Russian Ministry of Energy have decided to study the economics of gasification of Eastern Siberia and the Far East using the grid gas. The decision was announced by Deputy Head of the Department, Artem Verkhov, at the roundtable meeting in the State Duma, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, the Ministry of Energy wants to solve the problem with the low level of gasification of Eastern Siberia and the Far East. Only development of trunk gas infrastructure can solve this problem.

He added that the issue of gasification is discussed together with Gazprom as part of the possibility of building the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline. This system will be connected to the Power of Siberia and the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline by means of a cofferdam.

In early June, Andrei Turchakzayev, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party, said that sanctions against the country do not affect the social gasification program. According to the politician, there are no reasons to shift this program.
