OREANDA-NEWS. Co-owner of NOVATEK and Sibur Leonid Mikhelson has become a leader among Russian billionaires in growth over the past decade. This is evidenced by Forbes calculations.

According to the magazine, since 2010 Michelson’s fortune has increased by $ 22.6 billion - from $ 4.4 billion to $ 27 billion. Another shareholder in the list of the richest businessmen is Gennady Timchenko, another shareholder of NOVATEK and Sibur (the growth is $ 20, 8 billion, up to $ 22.7 billion). Next come the co-owner of Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin (an increase of $ 13.5 billion to 23.8 billion), the largest shareholder of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov (plus $ 13.2 billion) and the owner of Severstal Alexei Mordashov (plus $ 10.3 billion).

“The main beneficiaries of the decade are united by one thing - they owe their well-being to the commodity economy: metallurgy, chemical industry, oil and gas industry”, Forbes notes.

At the end of December, the magazine also compiled a rating of five Russians who were the richest in 2019. The list was headed by Potanin, who added $ 7.8 billion to his capital over the year, followed by Mikhelson, Alekperov, Timchenko and Mordashov. At the same time, Forbes named the owner of ONEXIM group Mikhail Prokhorov the businessman of the year among the Russians, who in August sold Alibaba cofounder control in the NBA club Brooklyn Nets for $ 1.35 billion.
