EU Approved Christine Lagarde as Chairman of European Central Bank

OREANDA-NEWS. The summit of the heads of state and government of the European Union was approved by Christine Lagarde as chairman of the European Central Bank (ECB), she will replace Mario Draghi from November 1, 2019. This is stated in the summit's final statement circulated in Brussels.
"The European Council approved Kristin Lagarde as chairman of the European Central Bank. She will replace Mario Draghi on this post from November 1, 2019. Earlier, the European Parliament and the Council of the EU approved her candidacy", the document says. The ECB was created in 1998 after to ensure financial stability and a coordinated monetary and financial policy of the eurozone states.
Kristin Lagarde will succeed Mario Draghi on November 1, 2019, according to the summit’s final statement circulated in Brussels. Previously, she held the post of Minister of Finance of France and since 2011 has been the managing director of the IMF. In July, Lagarde suspended the responsibilities of the IMF's managing director.
