OREANDA-NEWS The total amount of claims in Russian courts against Clearstream Banking due to asset freezes is about 74 million euros, according to a report for 2023 by Deutsche Borse Group (Clearstream is part of this group).

The company does not exclude new claims related to frozen assets, which may include foreclosure on Clearstream assets in Russia or in other countries, the report notes.

Due to the blocking of assets, companies, banks and private investors have filed more than a hundred lawsuits with Russian arbitration courts, most of them with claims against the Belgian depository Euroclear. About 20 lawsuits have been filed against Clearstream at the moment.
