OREANDA-NEWS The European Union is working on a new package of sanctions, which is going to include a ban on Russian gold, Bloomberg reported citing sources, Gazeta.ru reported.

As stated in the article, when the UK, the United States, Japan and Canada announced plans to ban imports of gold from Russia, London said that the measure would have a "huge impact" on Russia.

At the same time, industry analysts call the ban symbolic, because the sanctions imposed on Russia after the start of the special operation de facto closed the markets of Europe and the United States for it.

The publication also noted that preparations for a new package of sanctions continue, and some countries will insist on adding additional measures to the proposals.

They added that the new package is going to be amended to exclude restrictions on the transit of sanctioned goods in Kaliningrad.
Earlier, economist Salyakhutdinov predicted an increase in the value of gold by more than a third by the end of the year.
