Bill Gates Explains Why he Doesn't Invest in Bitcoin
OREANDA-NEWS. Microsoft founder Bill Gates explained in a conversation with The New York Times financial columnist Andrew Sorkin at Clubhouse why he does not invest in cryptocurrency. Unlike Tesla founder Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter and Square, who actively support bitcoin, Bill Gates, along with Warren Buffett of the investment company Berkshire Hathaway, is skeptical about cryptocurrency. So, in an earlier interview with Bloomberg, Gates advised people to invest their savings in bitcoins with caution.
«Elon has a lot of money, and he is very sophisticated in this matter, so I'm not worried, that his bitcoin will randomly rise or fall», Gates said, adding that, in his opinion, people who are interested in the idea of cryptocurrency may not have extra money, so «if you have less money than Elon, you probably should be careful».
As for his money, Gates told Sorkin at Clubhouse, that he preferred to invest in companies that «produce products» and cited malaria and measles vaccines as examples. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has already awarded more than $2.9 billion in grants to fight infectious diseases, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
