S&P: Crenshaw County Board of Education, AL School Tax Warrants Assigned 'A+' Rating
"The rating reflects our view of the board's strong maximum annual debt service coverage and limited additional capital needs," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Sarah Smaardyk.
The series 2016 warrants do not constitute general obligations of the board, but are limited obligations payable from and secured by a pledge of the proceeds paid to the board from a special 1% school board sales tax. We understand that officials will use bond proceeds to fund energy saving improvements to school buildings.
Crenshaw County is located in south-central Alabama, about 52 miles south of Montgomery and 152 miles northeast of Mobile, and reflects a somewhat limited and concentrated local economy that is centered on manufacturing. Luverne is the county seat.
