All-Russian Contest Starts to Select Best Financial Literacy Programme
OREANDA-NEWS. Education publishing house and SAPPHIRE Association of financial market participants supported by the Bank of Russia and the Academy of proficiency enhancement and professional retraining of education workers under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation declare the beginning of the All-Russian Contest on the Financial Literacy Basics exercise module. The contest is open to programmes developed both for Social Science or Economics obligatory education subjects and for the Financial Literacy Basics discipline within extra-curricular or elective classes in schools.
The exemplary basic educational programme of general and secondary education includes modules on financial literacy basics. That said the 2016-2017 school year will see the launch of financial literacy classes in many Russian schools aimed at solving everyday life problems. The interest to the new subject is expected to gain ground thus stimulating the development of individual modules included in existing school disciplines. In order to improve financial education in schools the contest organisers intend to consider the entire spectrum of existing programmes on financial literacy basics in Russian educational institutions and select the best ones to recommend their implementation on a wide-scale basis.
Entry forms and contest materials shall be submitted from 9 August to 20 September 2016 through electronic registration at dnifg.ru/contest/reg.
The contest is open to all educational institutions of the Russian Federation which included the Financial Literacy Basics module in the 2016-2017 school year programme within obligatory or elective disciplines.
The contest is run in 4 nominations:
the best course on financial literacy in basic general education (5-9 classes) – obligatory subject: Social Science or Economics;
the best course on financial literacy in basic general education (5-9 classes) – extra-curricular or elective subject;
the best work course on financial literacy in secondary general education (10-11 classes);
the best methodological financial literacy materials as a presentation.
Contest results will be summed up in early October 2016, on the eve of Teachers’ Day.
All entrants will get participant certificates. Winners in each nomination will get methodological sets Financial Literacy Basics in numbers sufficient for a school class. Runners-up and second runners-up will get electronic sets to activate electronic versions of the educational and methodological set Financial Literacy Basics in numbers sufficient for a school class.
