OREANDA-NEWS. WYG plc, the global programme, project management and technical consultancy, is pleased to announce that WYG has been awarded two new contracts worth up to €6.6m to support the Polish Government's initiative to help the unemployed, and further contracts and a contract extension in Turkey worth up to €6.0m, all funded through the EU's multi-annual financial framework.

In our announcement on 4 March 2016 we explained that the Polish Government is planning to spend approximately €50 million annually through a programme to help the unemployed and that we had won a first contract under this programme supporting the Silesian Labour Office.

WYG has been awarded two further contracts under this programme under which we will provide tailored training, job placement and job retention assistance to groups of unemployed individuals identified for this support by the labour offices of Podkarpackie and Dolno?l?skie. €2.0 million is attributable to the first stage of these projects, which are scheduled to be delivered over the next 18 months and, with potential extensions, the total value of the projects is up to €6.6m.

WYG is very well placed to take advantage of future growth opportunities in this multi-annual programme, as a leading national provider of active labour market policy and support services.

In Turkey, WYG has been awarded three new technical assistance projects worth €5.4m in aggregate.  The first, known as GETAM, is a €2.3m two year project to develop common product processes and infrastructure among SMEs and entrepreneurs working primarily in Turkey's leather, jewellery and electronic components markets. The second project, worth €1.8m over 18 months, aims to increase regional competitiveness and contribute to socio-economic development of Rize, a province in the Black Sea region. Our third project, which is worth €1.3m over 18 months, will develop the operational capacity of the Samsun Logistics Centre - an important facility for this port city on the Black Sea coast and a gateway to Anatolia.

We are also pleased to announce a €0.6m extension to our major water and wastewater project in Siverek - one of a series of projects aimed at helping Turkey to achieve high levels of environmental protection and compliance with the EU wastewater sector directives. This will secure our work on the project through to July 2018.

Paul Hamer, Chief Executive Officer of WYG, said:

"We are pleased that our local businesses in Poland and Turkey continue to successfully win new contracts and contract extensions in our core EAA and MENA markets.  We remain encouraged by our pipeline of opportunities as EU funds flow under the new multiannual financial framework, and our well established, market leading businesses are very well placed to take advantage of these opportunities. These contracts help to underpin the Board's confidence for the current year."
