OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank of Russia has won the tender to act as Operator of the Foreign Nominee Securities Account of Clearstream Banking S.A.,  one of the largest international clearing and settlement organizations. The account was opened at the National Settlement Depository (NSD), Russia’s central securities depository.

Additionally, Sberbank will act as Clearstream’s cash clearer for transactions in the national currency of the Russian Federation.

“By winning the Clearstream tender, Sberbank affirmed its excellent reputation in the depository services market in Russia and abroad”, said Yury Dubin, Director of Custody Services.

Clearstream has been operating in Russia since 2006, and opened a foreign nominee securities account at the NSD in 2012. The international central securities depository with headquarters in Luxembourg, Clearstream provides foreign investors with a wide range of services with respect to Russian securities, including government, municipal, regional and corporate bonds, as well as shares.

Sberbank Custody is one of the largest custodian banks in Russia that provides its customers (both residents and non-residents of the Russian Federation) with a full range of depository services: safekeeping, corporate actions, and depository operations with securities of Russian and foreign issuers.
