Households to be Allowed to Purchase and Sell Foreign Currency in Amount Not Exceeding UAH 150, 000 Without Passports (revised)

OREANDA-NEWS. The National Bank of Ukraine facilitates foreign currency cash transactions for households.

For a long period of time households sell to banks more foreign currency than purchaseIn January-July 2016 net purchase of foreign curency from households by banks reached USD 1.9 billion. In the view of stable situation in the FX market, the NBU Board considers it possible to liberalize requirements for carrying out FX transactions by individuals.

 So, from 10 August 2016 after Resolution No. 364 coming into force, individual will be able to exchange foreign currency in the amount equivalent to UAH 150 000 without providing documentsHowever, the temporary limit on foreign currency purchase in the amount not exceeding UAH 12 000 per person per day is still in force according to the NBU Board Resolution No. 342 of 7 June 2016. Requirement to provide documents when carrying out transactions in the amount exceeding UAH 150 000 remained unchanged with respecto Ukrainian legislation on prevention and counteraction of legalization (laundering) of the proceeds from crime or terrorism financing.
