Bupa has confirmed the appointment of Evelyn Bourke as Chief Executive Officer
OREANDA-NEWS. Bupa has confirmed the appointment of Evelyn Bourke as Chief Executive Officer. Evelyn has been Acting CEO since 4 April 2016 when the former CEO, Stuart Fletcher, stepped down.
Lord Leitch, Bupa's Chairman, said: "We are delighted to appoint Evelyn as Chief Executive of Bupa. She has exceptional talents in financial services, healthcare, risk and capital management, strategy, and mergers and acquisitions.
"Bupa has great assets; a strong brand, great businesses in a range of countries, deep strengths in health insurance with a distinctive clinical heritage and a well-regarded aged care business. I am confident Evelyn is the right person to lead us over our next phase."
Evelyn said: "I am honoured to become Bupa's Chief Executive. I am committed to ensuring we put our customers and our people at the centre of everything we do."
Bupa has also appointed Joy Linton as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), subject to regulatory approval. Joy became Acting CFO on 1 May 2016 and brings over 25 years' experience in financial and strategic roles in Australia and the UK.
Evelyn Bourke joined Bupa as Chief Financial Officer in September 2012 and was made Acting CEO in April 2016 when Stuart Fletcher stepped down. Evelyn joined from Friends Life where she was CEO of its Heritage division. Previously at Friends Provident, she was the Executive Director responsible for strategy, capital and risk and, before that, CFO. She also served as Finance Director of Standard Life UK. Evelyn started her career with New Ireland Assurance and Bank of Ireland, and was one of the first two women in Ireland to qualify as actuaries.
Joy Linton joined Bupa in March 2011 as Finance Director of the Australian Health Insurance business, later becoming Finance and Commercial Director of Bupa Australia and New Zealand. In 2015, she was Bupa's Interim Chief People Officer, before becoming General Manager, Health Services for Bupa UK. Prior to joining Bupa, Joy was CFO of National Foods, one of Australia's largest food and beverage companies. She was also a non executive director of Bega Cheese Ltd, an ASX-200 listed company, serving as Chair of their Audit and Risk Committee.
