OREANDA-NEWS. David Milberg, banker, philanthropist, and investment veteran, will be joining the board of Prospect Theater Company. The theater is renowned for its support of emerging artists and writers, and excels at creating programming to engage audiences and musical theater participants alike.

On his new role, Milberg commented, "Working in finance is my career, but theater has always been a passion. I am thrilled to be a part of an organization that produces incredible works of art, while also supporting young and emerging artists."

Milberg has been involved in the theater world since his undergraduate days at Princeton University, where he both acted in and directed student productions. While in college, he interned for Theater for the New City and Playwrights Horizon. Milberg still serves on the Board of Trustees of the Princeton Triangle Club, a musical theater group at Princeton that tours the country each year.

Milberg has been working in finance since 1987, first at Bankers Trust Company in loan sales and syndications, then as a Vice President in Investment Banking at Lehman Brothers, Inc., and finally at Milberg Factors, Inc., a finance firm started by his grandfather. Milberg was the President of Milberg Factors for over a decade. Simultaneously, Milberg has been involved in many non-profit organizations and was honored by Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York and the Metropolitan Jewish Geriatric Society.

Prospect Theater Company, dedicated to today's new voice shaping tomorrow's musicals, was founded in 1998 and has presented over 30 premieres of new works. In addition to full productions, Prospect produces the IGNITE Series of concerts at the TimesCenter, and the company's annual Musical Theater Lab, which assembles teams of writers who create short original musicals in response to a theme. To engage students, Prospect operates their Musical Theater Summer Intensive for middle and high school students to gain valuable experience and advice from professional artists.

Up next for Prospect Theater Company is a workshop staging of Scheherazade, a new musical by Marisa Michelson and Jason Grote, which performs through July 17th. The 2016 Musical Theater Lab production, Archetype, will debut July 27th.
