OREANDA-NEWS. These school holidays NAB piloted the first of its kind Cyber Kids Workshop for kids aged 6-15. During the pilot session, our Cyber Security experts gave 40 kids a behind the scenes glimpse of what it’s like to be a cyber-security expert and why it’s so important that they stay safe when surfing online.

This is part of a wider program that we run with schools and universities to raise the profile of what we do. We want to make security an obvious and attractive option for students (just like law or marketing).

The program has two key aims:

  1. We need to build a pipeline of security professionals to be the cyber security experts of tomorrow. The simple fact is there aren’t enough students starting university looking to work in security and we need to expose kids to security as early as possible in a fun and interactive way. .
  1. We want to make sure our kids are equipped to stay safe online from a younger age; they are the customers of the future!

The kids spent the day immersed in hands-on practical Cyber Security activities like robotics, programming, code breaking and online safety.

The feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive, both of my daughters went along to the workshop and had an absolute ball. They’ve since asked if they can buy a robot!
