OREANDA-NEWS. The SGX Real Estate Index is a free-float, market capitalisation-weighted index that measures the performance of the listed real estate sector in Singapore. Constituents in the index include real estate developers, real estate operators and real estate investment trusts.

The Index has 51 constituents, with the weightings of Index components capped at a maximum of 10% to allow better diversification across a range of stocks. As of 30 June, the 51 stocks were trading at an average price-earnings (P/E) ratio of 13.0, with an average dividend indicated yield of 7.0%.

In January-June 2016 period, the SGX Real Estate Index generated a total return of 1.8%. In comparison, the MSCI AC Asia ex-Japan Real Estate Index declined 2.7% in Singapore Dollar terms over the same period.

The five best performers of the Index in the first six months of 2016 were: IPC Corporation (+59.2%), Saizen REIT (+23.9%), China Merchant Holdings Pacific (+22.1%), Yoma Strategic Holdings (+20.4%), and Frasers Centrepoint Trust (+19.0%). These five stocks averaged a January-June 2016 total return of 28.9%, with the median return at 22.1%.
