OREANDA-NEWS. A group of SSE employees helped support vulnerable Perthshire residents using a local foodbank.

SSE’s Perth based employees Jamie Ramage, Simon O’Loughlin, Lynsey Matheson, Mike McCarthy and Hayley Duncan, visited the foodbank to provide some hands-on support.

The Perth and Kinross Foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust, which oversees the work of more than 400 food banks in the UK. Items are donated through schools, churches, businesses and supermarkets and then sorted by the foodbank workers for distribution.

The charity is settling into new premises and the move means they needed help with some everyday tasks – such as recording and weighing items – to ensure customers receive the support they need.

SSE’s Vulnerability Project Manager Jamie Ramage said: “We have a good relationship with Perth and Kinross Foodbank and this is a great opportunity for the teams responsible for our partnership to understand more about the charity, the role it plays in the community, and of course the people it supports.

“We are always looking at how we can support our most vulnerable customers as the cost of energy is becoming an increasing concern for many people. This partnership is delivering effective and sustainable support by providing a small but important lift to those who need it most.”

In addition, SSE has been working closely with the foodbank to look at how it can best support our customers through a difficult time in their life and offer financial help to customers who need it the most.
