Cognizant Ranked Among Top 100 Green Companies
Newsweek has ranked Cognizant among the top 100 Green Companies in the U.S. for 2016 in recognition of its corporate sustainability and environmental impact.
Cognizant ranked #55 on the U.S. 500—a ranking of the 500 largest publicly-traded companies in the United States by market capitalization, and ranked #101 on the Global 500, which looked at the 500 largest publicly-traded companies globally by market capitalization.
The Newsweek Green Rankings are one of the world’s most recognized assessments of corporate environmental performance. In partnership with Corporate Knights Capital, HIP (Human Impact + Profit) Investor Inc., and leading sustainability minds from non-governmental organizations and the academic and accounting communities, Newsweek assessed and measured the environmental performance of the world’s largest publicly-traded companies based on eight rules-based indicators: combined energy productivity, combined greenhouse gas (GHG) productivity, combined water productivity, combined waste productivity, green revenue score, green pay link, sustainability board committee, and audited environmental metrics.
In its efforts to be a responsible steward of the environment—essential to protecting the resources needed for the future, better manage climate change risks, and enhance the quality of life for employees, clients and partners—Cognizant has executed strategies to conserve energy and reduce waste through disciplined management practices, improved facilities design, and reengineered business processes.
