UniCredit Bank to support International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz
OREANDA-NEWS. 11th year in row, UniCredit Bank became the general sponsor of the annual International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz. The grand finale of the competition determined winners in the Intermediate group on May 4 at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
This year 77 pianists from 10 countries competed for the title of the best pianist in "Horowitz-Debut", "Junior Group" and "Intermediate Group" categories. Ukrainian pianist Oleksii Kanke, who brilliantly performed the Tchaikovsky Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, received the first prize in "Intermediate Group" category. In addition one more Ukrainian participant in "Intermediate Group" and 5 musicians from Ukraine in "Junior Group" became the winners of the competition.

International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz was founded in 1995 in memory of the legendary pianist, the only musician of Ukrainian origin who received 24 Grammy awards. Over 1200 young musicians from 33 countries have taken part in the competition so far. The victory in the International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz is known for testifying to the highest level of mastery.
