Apple and Samsung Raised Prices in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS Apple and Samsung in Russia raised prices for their products, follows from the data on the websites of companies.
For example, smartphones iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone Xr, MacBook Air, Apple Watch Series 4 on the Apple website rose by about 1.7 percent compared to December. For example, iPhone Xs now costs 89,481 thousand rubles instead of 87,99 thousand.
The press service of Samsung, in turn, told RIA Novosti that from January 1, prices in the online store adjusted to the changes in the VAT rate. Thus, the cost of the Galaxy Note9 128 GB smartphone increased by 2.1 percent to 71.49 thousand rubles.
The price of one of the models of the latest flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 20 Pro since the presentation in October has not changed — 77.77 thousand rubles, and the Mate 20 series fell from 57.77 to 47.77 thousand rubles.
According to data for the third quarter, Huawei is the leader in the number of smartphones sold in Russia (28.3 percent). Samsung and Apple accounted for 24.8 and 11.7 percent, respectively.
According to representatives of the company, the price in the Samsung online store changed on January 1 due to the change in the VAT rate. Thus, the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone in the minimum version rose by 128 gigabytes by 2.1 percent and began to cost 71.5 thousand rubles (in 2018 it cost 70 thousand). At the same time, the price for household appliances and televisions remained the same.
On the Apple website from January 1 also changed the price of the device, all the gadgets of the company rose by 1.7 percent. So, iPhone Xr on the official website of Apple is now sold for 66 092 rubles, when as before it cost 65 thousand. In addition to gadgets, accessories, including Apple Watch straps, airpods headphones and cases, have risen in price.
The law on increasing VAT from 18 to 20 percent was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in August 2018. According to the document, from January 1, 2019, the rate will increase for all goods except social goods: food products, children's goods, periodicals and books, as well as medicines and medical products.
