OREANDA-NEWS. The insurance indemnity for a hull for a non-recoverable Ural Airlines Airbus A321 aircraft, which, having flown from Zhukovsky Airport on August 15, 2019, collided with a flock of seagulls and made an emergency landing in a corn field, will amount to $ 46.1 million, follows from the presentation of the Deputy General Director Alfa Insurance by Ilya Kabachnik, a Russian media correspondent reports. This is the loss for the loss of the liner, which the insurance company (Ural Airlines insurer for this case was Alfa Insurance) pays carriers and leasing companies. Payments to passengers (injuries during the accident received 74 people) were not included in this amount.
The second-largest insurance loss for Russian airlines over the past year (from September 2018 to August 2019) is associated with the Aeroflot airplane burned down at Sheremetyevo Airport. He was insured for $ 43.5 million at Alfa Insurance and Sogaz. During the crash, 41 people died.
Kabachnik, who also holds the post of president of the International Union of Aerospace Insurers, has uncovered two major insurance losses from other airlines. The first is connected with the SSJ100 aircraft of Yakutia Airlines, which rolled out of the runway on October 9, 2018: the ship was insured at Ingosstrakh for $ 17 million, there were no injuries. The second is Utair Airlines Boeing, which also rolled out of the runway at Sochi Airport and caught fire: it was insured by Surgutneftegas insurance company for $ 14.5 million.
Thus, the amount of major airline insurance losses for the year, excluding payments to passengers, exceeded $ 121 million. Premiums for air hull insurance in 2018 amounted to $ 150 million, follows from the presentation. Accident rates will increase in the future, Kabachnik predicts, and Casco premiums will rise by 20-30%. “It's important to take into account the increase in accident rate, the chances of not reaching the destination are growing. This is also due to the lack of state policy in the field of flight safety”, said Kabachnik.
