OREANDA-NEWS  The recycling fee rate for cars imported into Russia by individuals and legal entities will increase from August 1. Etlo will affect the cost of cars, said Anton Shaparin, Vice President of the National Automobile Union, in an interview with Prime.

The recycling fee is a conditional tax that all manufacturers and suppliers pay, but those who have localized production in Russia, the funds are returned back.

For passenger cars, the rate of this fee will increase by 1.7-3.7 times from August 1. The difference for individuals will be several thousand rubles, and for legal entities it can amount to hundreds of thousands and millions. This will directly affect the final cost of cars for consumers in Russia, in particular it will affect Chinese brands.

The increase in the recycling fee will also affect cars whose engine capacity exceeds three liters and it does not matter whether they are imported into the country for sale or other purposes. These are mainly premium segment cars.

Also, for imported cars, the excise tax has been increased by five percent, thanks to which, among other things, distillation as a way of earning is suppressed. First of all, domestic automakers benefit from such measures of the authorities.

Earlier, analysts announced the most popular car brands among Russians in 2023. Among them were Kia, Hyundai and Toyota, these brands account for ten, nine and almost nine percent of sales, respectively.
