OREANDA-NEWS.  On 6 February 2008, the WSE Management Board admitted the company HSBC Bank plc. with its seat in London to operation on the WSE as a Remote Exchange Member. It is the third Exchange Member from the UK following Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) LTD. and JP Morgan Securities LTD.

HSBC Bank plc is one of the world’s largest financial institutions. It is owned by HSBC Holdings plc. HSBC Holdings plc is a member of more than 60 stock exchanges globally. HSBC Bank plc operates in most of the European capital markets.

The trading generated by the Remote Exchange Members is growing dynamically. The trading of this group of WSE Members tripled year on year in 2007 reaching PLN 23.5 billion (compared to PLN 6.9 billion in 2006).

The WSE now has 18 Remote Members from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, and Estonia. The first Remote WSE Member from the UK was Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) LTD.

Remote membership gives foreign brokers direct access to the WSE system without presence in Poland or the service of local intermediaries.
