Ukrainian Delegation Took Part in Conference on Cyber-Crimes
OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2009. A delegation of Ukraine is taking part in an international conference on cooperation in the area of fight against cyber-crimes. The conference is underway in Strasbourg (the French Republic).
The Ukrainian delegation is composed of representatives of the State Financial Monitoring Committee of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs, State Tax Administration and State Customs Service.
The main objective of the event is approval of coordinated actions to counteract to cyber-crimes that appear a threat to the national security of every state on a global scale.
In the course of the conference the participants are also to consider issues of modern tendencies and IT-market innovations; ways and methods of applying of innovation technologies used to commit such cyber-crimes as cyber-terrorism, cyber-extremism, cyber-fraud and money laundering; creating of various protection strategies to prevent such crimes. Besides, the attention will be concentrated on the issues of use of special technologies with an aim to reveal and investigate cyber-crimes; harmonization of approaches of various countries and elaboration of a joint policy as the part of strategy to fight cyber-crimes; development of national legislation, coordinated with international legal norms; activation of international cooperation aiming improvement of international legal mechanism of regulating of advanced technologies’ area.
According to the head of State Financial Monitoring Committee Ihor Cherkasskyi, to ensure effective fight against cyber-crimes on the international level it is necessary to implement purposeful and well-coordinated measures in order to elaborate practical solutions to prevent various kinds of new cyber-crimes.
As he opined, these mechanisms have to be available on the international level to maintain constant information exchange with regards to the ways, methods of identifying, protection and fight against cyber-crimes. Moreover, he views, partner relations between the state administrative bodies and private sector should be developed more vigorously.
