Dmitry Medvedev Visited International Biotechnology Centre Generium
OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2012. While on a working trip to Vladimir Region, Dmitry Medvedev visited the International Biotechnology Centre Generium, where he looked around the laboratories, saw how the production process works and met with the centre’s researchers.
The centre was established to supply Russia’s healthcare system with domestically produced genetically engineered drugs for use in diagnosing and treating serious diseases such as haemophilia, tuberculosis, multiple sclerosis, cancers, and endocrinology problems. Work on the project began in 2009.
The project encompasses a scientific research centre and modern biotechnology facility with a full production cycle from primary producer cultivation to production of ready-to-use medicines.
The more than 70-hectare site is home to laboratories, production facilities, and a residential area for the staff and their families. The infrastructure has been designed to offer a comfortable living environment to 600 people.
