Azerbaijan Launches Legal Reform Support Program
OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2011. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice is preparing to launch Legal Reforms Support Program in Azerbaijan.
Deputy Justice Minister Togrul Musayev says that the program was developed within the framework of European Neighborhood Policy (ENP).
"Simultaneously, within the framework of Legal System Modernization Project being implemented jointly with the World Bank, the law enforcement agencies and courts are equipped with modern information and communication technologies and work on creation of a single information network and electronic workflow is underway.
Besides, it was equipped the Ministry’s Legal Expertise Centre with modern forensic equipment, upgraded research labs, expanded preliminary investigation of criminal cases on the basis of legislative changes, enhanced administrative control over municipalities, improved the level of medical services to the judiciary, as well as survey and treatment of prisoners," said deputy justice minister.
According to Musayev, in general, within the project being realized jointly with the WB it was developed a number of projects on court facilities and more than 20 courthouses.
"The first of court buildings constructed within the project was commissioned in Oguz. These buildings are distinguished by a number of innovations. In particular, Femida system installed in the courtrooms allows audio and video recording of trials, video conferencing and presentations. In addition, courthouses, built within the project, are equipped with necessary infrastructure for electronic documents and digital libraries," Musayev said.
