OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2011. Early October in Lucerne (Switzerland) a meeting of the Political Group of the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) was held. The participating countries drafted a joint statement concerning the accident at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant (Japan) and charged each country to make the general public aware of it.

On behalf of ROSATOM O.O. Patarakin, Deputy Director of the Bloc for Innovations Management and Head of the Office for International Scientific Programs, participated in the work of the statement.

At present, twelve countries have signed the Charter of the GIF (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Japan, Russian Federation, South Africa, South Korea, U.K. and USA), as well as Euratom. Ten GIF members signed the Framework Agreement and participate in both the work of the GIF governing structures and specific on Reactor System Arrangements.
