OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2011. The office premises of Stroytransgaz Branch in the city of Homs, located on the eighth floor of a high-rise building, came under attack from automatic gunfire on the night of October 4-5. Fortunately, no was hurt in this criminal act.

In the wake of the attack, the Russian Embassy in Syria has taken urgent steps to beef up security for the office of the company and Russian citizens.

We regard the incident as a clear confirmation of the fact that the irreconcilable Syrian opposition trying to achieve by force of arms an overthrow of the existing regime in the SAR, has embarked on the use of methods of terror against the civilian population, and also institutions and organizations, including foreign ones, engaged in ensuring the country’s normal life.

We feel that the use of such terrorist methods deserves the strongest international condemnation. In this regard, we reaffirm our principled stand in favor of a speedy end to violence in the country and the use of peaceful political means to seek an exit from the current crisis in the SAR.
