Dmitry Medvedev Visited Housing Complex for Military Personnel
OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2011. Dmitry Medvedev visited a housing complex being constructed in the Podolsk District, Moscow Region, and examined construction plans for building housing for military personnel in various regions of Russia.
The housing complex under construction, which occupies over 130 hectares, will have 75 buildings. About 40 buildings have already been constructed, and the rest will be completed this year. There are also plans to build six schools, 13 pre-school facilities, and several health clinics.
Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov explained to the President the procedure for providing housing to military personnel and briefed him on a number of related problems. The President gave instructions to think of the ways to streamline and speed up this procedure.
Dmitry Medvedev emphasised that the issue of providing housing to military personnel must be resolved strictly within the framework of the presidential instructions: personnel discharged from military service must receive housing in 2011 and 2012. At the same time, the problem of providing service housing to military personnel must be resolved in 2012, the President said.
The President visited the home of Russian Air Force Colonel Sergei Fomin, who has received an apartment in the housing complex. Mr Medvedev toured the apartment and asked the new occupants for their opinions on the complex in general and their home in particular.
