BSF Large Landing Ship Yamal Returned to Sebastopol
OREANDA-NEWS. November 09, 2010. The Large Landing Ship Yamal of the Black Sea Fleet has returned from the Mediterranean Sea to the Fleet's main base at Sebastopol.
While in cruise the Large Landing Ship Yamal visited the ports of Greek Republic Corfu, Pilos, Spetses and Peraeus, and also Montenegro port Bar.
Stay of the Yamal in Corfu has coincided on time with carrying out of a public forum "Russian week on Corfu" in which frameworks Russian crew has taken part in Days of memory of admiral F.F.Ushakov.
Informal visit of the Russian ship to Pilos has been dated for the next anniversary of the Navarino Sea Battle.
In Peraeus command and crew of the Large Landing Ship Yamal together with representatives of embassy of Russia in Greece and local authorities on a city cemetery commemorated Russian seamen.
The Russian seamen have visited the ship-museum a battleship "Averov", and also have gone sightseeing in Peraeus. On the area near the city mayoralty for inhabitants and city visitors the concert of an orchestra of the Black Sea fleet has taken place.
During the stay of the Russian ship in the port of Bar on board the Large Landing Ship Yamal visited the president of Montenegro Filip Vujanovic and the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Seaside Amfilohy
On island Spetses Russian seamen had an opportunity to visit a museum of the national heroine of Greece Laskarina Bouboulina, have assigned wreaths to a monument of the Russian fleet admiral Alexei Orlov and a memorial to "The Unknown soldier".
On the occasion of ship returning solemn meeting has taken place in Sebastopol.
