Sudan: Abducted Russian Pilots Freed
OREANDA-NEWS. September 1, 2010. The three abducted Russian pilots – aircraft commander V. V. Malai, co-pilot K. V. Pelikayev and flight engineer G. N. Filevchenko – have been freed as a result of the energetic actions taken by Sudanese authorities, the Russian embassy in Khartoum has reported. They all look healthy and feel fine. Now the Russian pilots are in Nyala, South Darfur, from where they are to be taken to Khartoum.
At the same time the Foreign Ministry calls upon all Russian companies operating in Sudan to consider in their activities the realities of the complicated situation in Darfur and maintain close cooperation with UNAMID units and the Russian embassy in Khartoum.
