Humanitarian Aid Comes to Tajikistan
OREANDA-NEWS. February 24, 2010. The train with humanitarian aid from Turkmenistan brought children’s clothes and 660 tons of diesel fuel totally amounted to over US\\$ 500,000 to Dushanbe. This event drew a wide response in the friendly country and was viewed as a new sign of the goodwill of the Turkmen people, a new evidence of Turkmenistan’s policy peace and good neighbourliness.
As is known, with a view to maintaining and enhancing good neighbourly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan and due to severe winter weather President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov issued the Decree on the provision of humanitarian aid to the fraternal Tajik people. In accordance with the document the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan and the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries were authorized to send textiles and diesel fuel in the approved amounts to Tajikistan.
The ceremony of meeting the train with humanitarian aid took place at the central railway station in Dushanbe. The cabinet ministers, the representatives of the public organisations of the friendly country and journalists attended the ceremony. The participants expressed sincere gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Turkmen people for brotherly assistance to the people of Tajikistan. It was emphasized that the friendly contacts between the two leaders, the constructive intergovernmental relations based on the centuries-old traditions of friendship and historical and cultural affinities between the two nations had laid the firm foundation for the further consistent development of the Turkmen-Tajik dialogue.
Humanitarian aid will be distributed among the regions of the country.
